Quick Start
Everything you need in 30 seconds
On phone / tablet
1. Tap to add
Tap the + on any product in the Items tab.
2. Drag to move
Drag any placed item around the floor plan.
3. Drag to draw walls
In Walls mode, touch and drag to draw.
4. Use the rotate handle
Select an item, drag the handle above it to rotate.
5. Pinch to zoom
Pinch with 2 fingers to zoom and pan the view.
6. Snap to walls
Drag an item near a wall — it auto-aligns.
A few more tricks
- Flip mirror — select item, tap Flip H / Flip V in the toolbar.
- Clean view — View menu → Clean view (hides handles for screenshots).
- Custom item — tap 🧩 Custom item if your SKU isn't in the catalog.
- Get a quote — tap QUOTE top-right, fill details, get a PDF plan by email.
How every feature works
Doors explained
There are two kinds of doors in the planner, and they behave differently.
1. Wall doors
Tap on any wall or room edge to place a door. Each door shows a leaf and a swing arc in CAD convention.
- Rotate swing — Toggles whether the door opens INTO or OUT of the room. The arc flips across the wall line.
- Flip side — Mirrors the hinge end-to-end — left-hinge becomes right-hinge along the wall direction.
If you place a door with no walls nearby, it becomes a floating door (dashed brown outline). It auto-attaches when you draw a wall within 30 cm.
2. Equipment doors
Rendered automatically on fridges, ovens, dishwashers, and walk-ins. Parsed from the product name: Single, Double, Triple, French, or N-door. Each door becomes a small hatched quarter-arc showing swing clearance.
Tabletop refrigerators: the first 35 cm on the left is the compressor (hatched gray strip); doors occupy the remaining width.
Flipping / mirroring
Two separate flip actions on any placed item. These are NOT the same as rotate.
- Flip Horizontal (↔) — Mirrors the item across its vertical center axis. A sink with a drain on the right becomes one with the drain on the left. Doors on equipment swap sides.
- Flip Vertical (↕) — Mirrors across the horizontal center axis. Less common — used when front and back need to swap.
Rotate turns the item by 90° (or any angle with the rotate handle). Flip changes handedness. Rotate changes orientation.
Utilities (water / drain / electric / gas / HVAC / propane)
Utilities mark the connection points each piece of equipment needs.
- Auto-utilities — Derived from the product's flags — a fryer auto-gets a gas marker. Rendered as small dashed circles, non-interactive.
- Manual utilities — You place them yourself by tapping Utils mode. Drag to reposition. Select to delete or change type.
Default mount heights
Each utility has a default height where it connects to the equipment, measured in cm from the floor.

Per-item override — Select an item, open the ⚙ Utilities popover, and change a specific height. Useful for unusual equipment — a tall pasta cooker that needs water at 90 cm instead of 60.
Show / hide utilities — Toggle in the ⚙ View popover. Hides ALL utility markers (auto + manual) on the canvas for a cleaner view.
Ruler with OSNAP
Tap Ruler mode to measure distances. The cursor uses AutoCAD-style object-snap to lock onto geometry within 20 px.
Green square — endpoint — item corner, wall endpoint, or door endpoint.
Blue triangle — midpoint — wall midpoint or item edge midpoint.
Yellow circle — center — item geometric center.
Magenta X — intersection — where two walls cross.
First click = start. Second click = end + shows distance in cm. Multiple rulers persist; tap a ruler to delete it.
Item numbering
Tap # Number items in the toolbar to assign sequential numbers 1, 2, 3 ... to every placed item. Numbers appear as hollow blue balloons.
- Inside the item for big blocks.
- Floating outside with a leader line for small items (under 30 cm on either side).
These numbers appear in:
- The Summary tab's equipment list.
- Your quote submission.
- The PDF attached to the confirmation email.
Tap a balloon to edit its number. Typing a duplicate auto-swaps with the other item. This lets your sales engineer cross-reference the plan and quote line-by-line.
Keyboard: N toggles numbering on / off.
Clean view
Tap ⚙ View → Clean view, or press Ctrl / Cmd + . on desktop.
Hides
- All selection handles (rotate, delete, mirror).
- Item labels.
- Extraction badges.
- Utility markers.
- Issues banner and empty states.
Keeps
- Room outline and walls.
- Doors.
- Equipment blocks.
- Grid (respects your existing grid toggle).
- IPEC watermark.
Useful for screenshots, presentations, and focused layout work.
Custom items
Tap 🧩 Custom item in the catalog or header.
Build a custom equipment piece by entering name, width, depth, and utility needs. It renders as a generic block on the canvas with your specs. Carried in the snapshot, share URL, and quote just like catalog items.
Use this when your SKU isn't in our catalog — sales will follow up.
Understanding the Summary panel
Tap the Summary tab to see what you've built.
- Equipment list — every placed item with tag number, quantity, ERP code, and name.
- Extraction airflow — total CFM required based on all cooking items. Sales uses this to spec the right hood.
- Utility BOM — count of each utility type needed — e.g. 4 × water, 3 × gas.
- Design issues — warnings from the 26-rule validation engine — hood overhang, heat-cold proximity, handwash presence, walkway gaps, and more. Danger issues need attention; warnings are advisory.
- Request Quote button — opens the form, sends your plan and PDF to our team.
Sharing + saving
- Share button — (top bar) copies a link with your full layout encoded. Open the link anywhere to see the same plan.
- Auto-save — your layout saves to your browser automatically. Reload the page — it's still there.
- Templates — pre-built layouts for common kitchen types (coming soon).
Undo / Redo
- Desktop — Ctrl/Cmd+Z (undo), Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z (redo, or Ctrl + Y)
- Mobile — use the ↶ and ↷ buttons in the top toolbar.
40-step history, debounced at 400 ms while dragging so you don't fill it with micro-moves.
Two-finger pan + pinch zoom (mobile)
- 1 finger — drag / tap.
- 2 fingers apart — zoom in / out (pinch).
- 2 fingers pan — move the canvas around while zoomed in.
The zoom level is not saved. It's your current view, not part of the plan.
On desktop
Mouse actions
- Drag from the palette sidebar onto the canvas.
- Click an item to select, then drag to move it.
- Drag the rotate handle above a selected item.
